A little about me
Hello!
My name is Sara, I live in the PNW and serve the Willamette Valley and surrounding areas as a birth doula, childbirth educator, and placenta encapsulation specialist. I have birthed four children and each birth has been such a unique experience. My passion for birth began 12 years ago when I had my first child and my birth wishes were sadly ignored. It fueled my passion for childbirth education and informed, evidence based birth, and compassionate birth support!
Everyone deserves compassionate support, to be seen, heard and respected during childbirth. It is an innate human right that no one has the power to take away from you.
I chose DTI (Doula Trainings International) as my doula certifying body because their program is one of the most comprehensive trainings available. I am also working on becoming DONA certified and on the Oregon THW registry, hopefully by next Summer (2024) so that I can accept OHP clients and better serve the community.
I am a birth nerd and daily my goal is to learn at least two new things about birth, pregnancy, birth support, reproductive justice and anything related in order to best be able to serve my clients. I am almost done with my first year as a student midwife, continuing to further my passion and knowledge of physiologic birth. I am on track to have my Bachelor's of Science in Midwifery and become a CPM in Oregon by the end of 2027, or a little sooner.
My philosophy surrounding pregnancy, birth and beyond is that every family is unique, comes from different backgrounds, different cultures and should have all the knowledge and power to make informed decisions that suit them best based on their needs without judgment from others. Childbirth is a normal, natural process that will unfold as it should when left undisturbed and in a safe place with loving support. Your vision becomes my vision while I am supporting you and your family, and I will do everything I can to help facilitate that for you along the way, ensuring you feel empowered from your birth.
